It appears the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is working towards her next LP and is considering covering a fellow Queen, Beyoncé, according to a recent Rolling Stone interview. Franklin, who is celebrating her birthday today (Happy Birthday Aretha!) says, “I like ‘Bootylicious,’ ‘Survivor’ – my little granddaughter loves ‘Survivor’.”
The iconic singer admires Beyoncé’s work ethic telling the magazine, “[Beyoncé]’s a worker and I can appreciate that. I’m a worker.”
Franklin’s next LP is currently set to be covers of songs by her favorite singers produced by well known music producer Clive Davis. Reports have included other possible covers Aretha will be recording songs by Donna Summer, Barbara Streisand.
Aretha is currently touring across America, and is set to be in Chicago on May 3rd at the Chicago Theatre. (Tickets are still available via Ticketmaster.com)
