Billboard Music Awards Nominee’s Announced, Predictions

Although the beginning 2013 did not have the best start, the year sure ended with a bang pouring into 2014. Billboard has announced its finalist for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards set to take place on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas at 8 p.m. (EST)

One of the top contenders this year is who else other than BEYONCÉ with a total of six nominations, and I see potentially winning every single one of the categories she’s in…

Miley Cyrus is up for four BMA’s this year, even going as far as being nominated for the “Top Artist” category…

The nominations for the Billboard Awards contain anything released from March 2013 to March 2014 are based on the following, Billboard states,

“Key fan interactions with music, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music.

Below is a complete list of nominee’s with a few having my comments directly below…

Top ArtistBruno Mars
Miley Cyrus
Imagine Dragons
Bruno Mars
Katy Perry
Justin Timberlake

***With who is nominated, I don’t see how they could give it to anyone other than Justin Timberlake, but with the year Bruno had, don’t see surprised is he is the one walking up to the stage for this award.

Top New Artist
Bastille
Capital Cities
Ariana Grandeariana-grande-press-650-430
Lorde
Passenger

*** I am 100% here for Ariana Grande receiving this award, this girl is one of the most talented new artist to come along in such a long time, however the hype around Lorde might be enough to give her a BMA…

Top Male Artist
Luke Bryan
Drake
Eminem
Bruno Mars
Justin Timberlake

Top Female ArtistBjDeHrfIMAAYUum
Beyonce
Miley Cyrus
Lorde
Katy Perry
Rihanna

*** Let’s be real, Beyoncé gave the music industry exactly what it needed back in December of 2013 when she surprised dropped her album, and the reaction worldwide proves why Beyoncé is nothing than less than deserving of this award.

Top Duo/Group
Florida Georgia Line
Imagine Dragons
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
One Direction
OneRepublic

*** Macklemore & Ryan Lewis impact the past year is astounding, even with the promotion of Grammy winning song, Same Love, Imagine Dragons has a strong backup as well with their hit song, Radioactive, but it did not nearly get as much attention as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Top Billboard 200 Artist
BeyonceJT-Beyonce
Luke Bryan
Eminem
One Direction
Justin Timberlake

*** This one is obviously between Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, and One Direction. I only say One Direction because of the size of their fan base and how Billboard selects their winners for their awards, that might be just enough, but really though, who released an album with every single song getting a majority of positive feedback.

Top Hot 100 Artist
Miley Cyrus
Imagine Dragons
Lorde
Katy Perry
Justin Timberlake

*** This might be where the categories start to get really close and competitive. In this category you have Miley Cyrus who seems to be the queen of the charts this year with her hits, We Can’t Stop, Wrecking Ball, and 23. Katy Perry has also had her fair share of chart-toppers with Roar and Dark Horse, and let’s not forget Justin Timberlake who released two entire album of quality music that was all over the radio in the past year. This is one is gonna be a tough one, and I will be 100% shocked to see Lorde or Imagine Dragons take this one home.

Top Digital Songs Artist
Miley Cyrus
Imagine Dragons
Lorde
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Katy Perry

Top Radio Songs Artist
Imagine Dragons
Lorde
Bruno Mars
Katy Perry
Justin Timberlake

Top Touring Artist
Beyonce
Bon Jovi
Pink
RihannaIMG_1051
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

*** Beyoncé has just completed her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour (right) recently and has made a total of $224,284,820 (so far with 3 shows still left to report) which would make her one of the highest grossing female touring performers of not only 2013, but also in her career. Bon Jovi’s known for touring at this point, however Mrs. Carter brought the fire around the world, and the Queen will keep her spot in her throne for this award.

Top Social Artist
Justin Bieber
Miley Cyrus
One Direction
Rihanna
Taylor Swift

*** This award is going to be a fun one. Because if it is just regarding who gets talked about the most, no one other than Justin Bieber is deserving of the award, his name has been thrown around more than anyone’s in this category. Maybe not all for the right reasons, but his name has been in headlines the most this year. Miley is big with her fans, but remember what I said earlier, the fan base One Direction has is incredibly large full of preteen girls at what not.

Top Streaming Artist
Miley Cyrus
Imagine Dragons
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Katy Perry
PSY

Top R&B Artist
Beyonce
Pharrell
Rihanna
Robin Thicke
Justin Timberlake

* I am not really sure what Billboard is classifying as R&B, however, as an artist, this will be between Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. There is no one in the music industry that makes albums like these two do. It might be due to the fact they got their start in the 90’s when albums were still made. Whatever the case may be, this will be either Beyonce or Justin, and I wouldn’t be too upset if I saw Justin take home this award, to be honest. But yes, I will be rooting personally for Beyonce, duh!

Top Rap Artist
Drake
Eminem
Jay Z
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Pitbull

** Jay Z… any questions?

Top Country Artist
Luke Bryan
Florida Georgia Line
Darius Rucker
Blake Shelton
Taylor Swift

Top Rock Artist

*** Lorde is a rock artist now… ok..?

Top Latin Artist
Marc Anthony
Gerardo Ortiz
Jenni Rivera
Prince Royce
Romeo Santos

Top Dance / Electronic Artist
Avicii
Daft Punk
Calvin Harris
Lady Gaga
Zedd

*** I see Lady Gaga and then I see all Electronic Artist… This kind of confuses me, but again, Billboard knows what its doing…

Top Christian Artist
Mandisa
Skillet
tobyMac
Chris Tomlin
Matthew West

*** Ever since I saw Mandisa on the television screen on the original seasons of American Idol I rooted for that girl. I haven’t seen anything of hers since then but its great to see her finally possible taking home some recognition.
