Chief Keef’s Chicago Concert This Weekend Cancelled Due to Expected Violence

050212-music-10-things-chief-keef-1.jpgChief Keef‘s concert this Saturday has been cancelled by police and the city of Harvey, Illinois in what seems to be a downward spiral of events happening for Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart. The Chicago rapper is not allowed to perform at a concert which was originally slated to take place at Cicero’s Olympic Theatre this Saturday due to expected violence.

The Cicero Police cancelled the concert due to officials fearing Chief Keef’s attendance would cause violence, and apparently had sources who told authorities there were going to be problems, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Chicago violence continues; Many Chicagoans upset by the growing nickname ‘Chiraq’ for their city. STORY HERE!

Harvey spokesman Sean Howard released a statement regarding the concert:
“Four years ago the rapper held a concert in neighboring Markham. Gunshots were fired and one person was killed. The rapper has written songs that have led to death threats against his life in southern Cook County. The Mayor’s top priority is to protect the citizens of Harvey against any potential threat to public safety. Harvey Police will be on high alert this coming weekend. We stand united with the City of Chicago and The Town of Cicero in protecting our citizens against the threat of violence as it relates to Chief Keef.” -Sean Howard, spokesman of Harvey, Illinois.
It was only yesterday that Chief Keef was evicted from his Highland Park home by Lake County officials…
However, it’s good to see someone attempting to cease the violence in Chicago in some way before it goes down.
